I would like to know what top speed I can expect from a 79' 4905 with 8v71 with v730 auto trans with stock rear end ratio, I do not know the rear end ratio. Also what type of MPG can I expect from bus. |

Doug , that would prob be about right, ours is all hopped up - quick and fast, but oh how the milage suffers. As some of the ol boys said I don't think you need to spend the hop up money, just enjoy the trip and craw up the hills.
Ours is quick and fast but on a trip you are suppose to enjoy, what makes the diff, right.
Might outrun anything on the road and quick out of the holes, but who really cares.

I get anywhere from 6 to 9 with my 04..... 6-71 with 4 valve heads and dual exhaust.
have gotten 8 towing my 99 F-150 extra cab pickup.......
yeah it is a 2nd gear crawl up the likes of donner pass and the grapevine in CA but in the big picture.....the low spead on grades really does not add much to the trip |
