These are records of a trip that we just returned home from. The total miles were 3025.4 miles during 4 weeks. We left on the 26th of July and returned on the 21th of August. The records are from our Silverleaf with the extras added for generator time and the fuel that I put in each time. Our generator runs off the main tank so we have to make adjustments for the generator usage. I have run the generator off a separate tank and checked the fuel usage. It is a 9 KW and uses about one half gal per hr. We only stayed in campgrounds 10 days and the rest where ever. The weather was hot so most of the time there were two airs running. Some of the time we were using all three for a short time to get the coach cooled down. The trip was from Lakeland FL to Branson MO, then to Dayton OH, on to Mooresville NC then back to Lakeland. You can look at the chart and tell which days we were going through the mountains and the ones on flat land. Some of the things that we found to make a big difference in fuel mileage are how many stops you make and type of terrain you are in. The best day’s millage was the last that was from Brunswick GA to Lakeland. No stops with the cruse set at 63 miles per hr. Our coach is a 1968 05 Eagle powered by a 320 hp Detroit series 50engine,Allison 740 and 3.36 rear towing a pickup truck with a Harley in the truck. Total weight is about 43,000 lbs. If any of you like to ride motorcycles there are great roads in the Branson area. We rode the bike over 1000 miles in that area. The City of Harrison has a riders guide for 6 different 100 mile rides. Jack

We never had a 6V92, it started out with a 8V71` then a 8V92. The 8v71 was about 6 miles to the gal and the 8V92 4.5. The series 50 has given me 7.7 for about 15,000miles. What has surprised me is the speed dosn't make as much difference as the roads you are on. If you look at the chart you can see when we were in the hills. Jack |

think hour meters (rpm x throttle % x moments spent on the journey) and the difference becomes much clearer , kind of what gm does on there modern disposable junk cars/p/u trucks and the oil life monitor system they employ for warranty denial purposes, or maybe they do have a little monkey in them computers .... |

Jack, why did you only get 4.5 out of the 8v92 I have the 3:36 and a 740 with a 8v92 450 hp with 1580lbs of torque @ 1400 rpm and mine is 7.5 mpg living here in the west and I drive the speed limt not 40 or 45 mph. Maybe it is because mine is built for torque and fwiw I never saw a 8v92 that would not get 1 to 2 mpg better than a 8v71 N/A. good luck |
