Anyone know how I can put a screen door in my coach? Would like to have one, but don't know how to go about it. Still has air operated door, which i would like to keep. accordian cover (don't know what else to call it) seems to be in the way for everything I've come up with. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!!!

I don't have one on my new bus, but on my last bus (school bus with a hinged door), I just screwed some screen up from above the door (on the inside), and then hemmed in magnets on the bottom to grip to the floor frame in the wind... More of a screen flap that a door, but it kept the bugs out. Instead of screwing it, snaps could be installed or velcro could be sewn in.

Ted,

I see you have a 102, but probably no different (the door, I mean) from my 5C. I hung screen from the top - hanging down a foot or so - and framed in (on wooden molding material) the rest. Magnets don't work on SS, but velcro does the job. A bit clumsy and not terribly attractive, but lets the air in and keeps the bugs out.

FWIW

PS. Hey, Hojii - great link. Hadn't heard of Nimco but looks like a good source!

RV suppliers make a "screen curtain" that are custom made for most applications. I haven't checked on one for a bus, but I'm sure they will make one for you.

Ted,

I had the same thoughts with our 102 door. Posted the issue, and talked to many. We looked at custom screens by us and others. Problem is nothing is convenient to just push open, push closed with the door open. And as you've noticed, the control arm and cover is constantly in the way.

We saw a bus many years ago with a strip curtain in the door way to his MCI. Didn't look bad to us and he said it was very effective.

We are going to try the 8" amber type in the link below. You can leave the door open and lights on inside when entertaining outside, but the bugs won't see the lights through the amber color strips. Another advantage is they are temperature barriers. You can leave the A/C running inside if you need to run in and out throughout the day.

When driving you can tie back the strips like a curtain, or have a lift off track and roll it up until the next stop.

I like the idea, kind of like flaps on a walkin frige, but honestly I think it would bug me a lot more than a removable screen flap... Another possible idea is an accordion door... with a screen window(s) in it...(?)

I sewed velcro to screen and attached it to the openings of the roof emergency exits... that at least works very well... i also have screens on all my windows.

Mrs. Ted,

When you have a screen door built you like, please post photos. Many of us are always looking for better mouse traps.

Thanks.
