After having sworn off the idea of getting a bus, as I mentioned in a thread below WildBob had graciously volunteered to drive a considerable distance and meet me to inspect the Vern bus just prior to its being sold.

He has now come across a '74 Buffalo that appears to have some potential. I recall someone here can discover some of a bus's history with the VIN #. Well, here it is: P8M4905A744. Thanks.

I feel a bit of a nuisance. I don't even own a bus. But I do appreciate your indulgence.

Charlie,

RJ or JL will chime in with more detail, but it looks like it was delivered new to Trentway Bus Lines in Ontario. Since it's a northern bus, we'll have to look it over carefully for rust and corrosion issues.

Thanks. And thanks again, Bob, for helping me out with this one.

I hope this isn't too tacky and Lord knows I'm not a self-promoter, but since the Vern bus is gone for good you may get a kick of going to myspace.com/charliesizemoreband and listening to "Blame it on Vern." This is a one-time digression of this sort but I won't be offended in the least if it is brought to my attention that this sort of post is best left to some other list.

Check this coach very close for rust and corrosion beings it came from the snow and ice country.
GMD is not a typo this was still GMC in Canada

Charlie -

Bob's right, P8M4905A-744 was delivered in August of 1974 as fleet number 7474 to Trentway Bus Lines, based in Peterborough, Ontario Canada.

He's also right about the rust & corrosion issues.

Remember, you're looking for what's known as an "entertainer" coach, one that's set up for a musical group with bunks, etc. Lots of them in your area, it's just a matter of finding the "right" one for you & the band.

Oh, and the myspace music link? What a hoot! Listened to several songs, enjoyed them all, which leads to the question:

When are you & Nellie gonna record something together, eh?

FWIW & HTH. . .

No shortage of entertainer buses for sure where I live. Just up the road is busforsale.com. Problem is none around here is within my price range. As I mentioned to Bob I'd be interested in a reliable 35 ft 410whatever, but all I see seem to be laid out like motor homes - no bunks - and I'd mess it all up by trying to put bunks in it.

My luck this one is eat up with rust. We'll see, I guess. May be a bargain or a dud.

I just finished a record and I doubt I'll be recording anything until they make me again. Tedious, laborious process. But thanks for the nice words.

FWIW, Trentway is/was a VERY picky fleet, excellent maintainence.

Their buses command top dollar at trade in time.

Trentway lives on as the core licence, and home base, of Coach Canada.

happy coaching!

Good post BW...nice to hear something positive about a "major" concern...and "subsidiaries"! :-)

Charile -

You might want to take a look at this coach, reasonable asking price, about a 4 hr drive from you:

May not be perfect, but may suit your needs in the interim?
