I keep reversing my decision on this.

it takes up space, but there's nothing more useful when you have to move some furniture, heavy copiers, etc.

of course I used it once in the last 2 years.

what to do what to do...

It seems to me if you seldom use it and if you can find another way to get the heavy stuff in and out, removing it will give you much more room, which is always amothing you can use often is the best way to go. I think this is one decission you will have to make.

Someday you may have a real need for it - keep it.

It has to be your decision Peter, but if you can stand the loss of the room, I would opt to leave it in. You never know what life may have for you down the road. If you don't use it for yourself, maybe you will need to transport someone who would need it. Lot of trouble to take it out and fill the hole too.

Can the loss of inside space be great...or does it all fold up to the side?

I buy used handicap shuttle buses for my construction business. I always get them with the rear side W/C lift because I love that big side door...42" wide. But, I always remove and sell the lifts. They are very noisy when you're running down the highway...lots of rattles & squeaks. Bungies help some, but the lifts weigh so much that they just get squeaking again. To me, the big door is a plus, without the lift. Mine always seem to sell for $500.

My $.02

Seems like a pantry or other shelving unit on wheels or a hinge system would give you back a lot of that space. If not in a place satisfactory for a pantry location, perhaps another storage unit of some kind.

Would give you another foot of storage space ( out into the center of the coach) and still leave lotsa ' room for an isle. Easy to build and engineer seems to me. Will/way syndrome.

FWIW

RCB, that's actually something I thought about.

nice wooden cabinet with a built in TV, that can be hinged to move out of the way when necessary.

I might go that route.

Depending on space needed in the front of the "cabinet" one could open it in the middle...swinging, if you will, to both sides, thereby not using up so much of that space.

Lotsa' ways of skinnin' cats.

Sounds like you are "thinking"...Thats a good thing! :-)

Best wishes.

...I going to agree with what old chucky might be thinking, keep it and dual purpose the the space into cabinets or something to mitigate the sacrfice of weight and space.

~If I actually had a wheel chair lift on my bus and we both managed to last long enogh to need such a devise, would I want to hire 250lb HELLGA the ex-steel mill worker from Lenigrad as my personal bus assitant

/OR would I dessire petite SWEiTLANA , the 130lb massage therapist from Stockhome to tend to my aged needs ?

That is a full 120 lbs GVW capacity/difference , if you care to really think outside the bus or ah ah ah the a box, ehy !

&&& if your exceding young and all ready over GVW with your curent configuration, remove it and save it for later, keeping the door available with mimal remove of what ever you put there for uses such as juniorjamo sugest.

(don't go off your bus-nut deciding now work that can be postpone untill another phase, might be the point I am trying to make here)
