I have had a two instances when the I started the bus and it stopped after a few minutes of running. I was unable to restart the bus until I disconnected the fuel line from the fuel pump to the filter at the fuel pump end and filled it with fuel. After that it started up and ran fine. If I keep my foot on the accelerator to keep the engine at a fast idle until the bus airs up and if I am still idling, put the engine on fast idle, everything seems okay. The bus runs fine on the highway. I haven't had a chance to look at this very closely, but it seems it could be a fuel line leak or a failing fuel pump as it only occurs at slow idle. Any thoughts on the the cause? (DD 8V-71 in an MC-8) Thanks. Dave D |

suction leak in fuel line to tank, fuel pump going bad. Pressure check fuel pump. You do have clean fuel filters? |

Thanks for the quick response. When this first happened, I changed both filters. It has happened again since then. |

I wouldn't doubt that the fuel line check valve is stuck or worn out. Pull it, clean it, or replace it. I put a ball valve on my fuel line for a just in case, plus it's a great theft deterrent. |
