Laryn... What do you use for a CL search engine? I have seen most of these. Am I nuts for being stuck on a 35'er? These Eagles & MCI's scare me with the tag axel's & extra wheels.They prabably handle better. I might have to cash in a 401k & spend 30/40 grand to be happy & not have to do the work myself. | ||

Mike, Like everything else in life, it is trade-offs. The 35' buses has less tires & wheels and brakes, but weighs less (usually better mileage) and can go a few places that 40' buses can't. The 40' bues have more room inside and more baggage space, but weigh more and have more tires, wheels, and brakes to manitain. We started with a 35' GM 4106 and now have a 40' MC-8. They are different and I miss the sharper turning radius and better mileage of the 4106, but would not want to give up the extra space inside and that extra baggage bay. YMMV Jack | ||

I think i like the 4106's better than the MCI5's The alum. & better acess to the motor is nice. But the MCI's look cool with all the SS. | ||

Mike, Personally I really like my 35' Flxible. It is plenty large enough for our family of 4 and yes the 6-71 has plentyof power. You may need to downhift a couple gears to get up a hill but you will get up it. Here are some photos of ours if you want to get an idea of space. Personally I also like the simplicity of the Flx all 12 Volt electric and the only air opperated pieces are the brakes and wipers http://members.tccoa.com/timb/Flx/Interior/ | ||

The Flx in Prescott has a simple/no frills looking interior but for the price it could be a good deal depending on what shape the rest of it is in. | ||

"Am I nuts for being stuck on a 35'er?" Depends on your use for the conversion. We tour the country and go place to place with the coach. Since we almost never bother with a toad , the coach goes downtown , or to our destination. 10 ft high and 35 ft long is easier to "Go where UPS has Gone Before" , almost everywhere. The woods boondockers or Power Hose full timers can use the 12.5 ft high 40 -45 long and still be under 65 ft long when on the road.. Since there more liable to sit seasons at a time in one spot , the toad is the lifeline , and used for touring the local area. There IS NO "one size fits all" , that's why the bus campers motto is usually "MY WAY". FF |
