Jeez, I hope he didn't get it open & got himself stuck inside now. With all the commotion going on, we kinda forgot about him & the original problem, eh? Still with us, Peter?? You still on the outside?? |

yeah. I am stuck outside. it's in storage so it's ok for now. next thing I will try is to go open the roof hatch and crawl inside to pump the sucker up. |

Terrrry ... When the bus air is totally depleted, it can do a lil' bit of twisting on uneven ground. My MC9 door would stick (jammed) closed whenever that happened, even more so after the seats, etc were out. If you can get to one of the front jack points, and have a 20 ton jack available, jacking under the jack point near the door may level it enough to allow you to pry it open. One of the guys here may be able to tell you where the jack point for your bus is.... and you can rent a jack. Make sure you use the right jack point, since jacking under anything else can destroy your wallet. Worse case? I would call a wrecker and have 'em lift the front until you can open that door. Trying to open that roof hatch may be interesting. Try to get someone to take movies of you doing it, OK? There's a few TV shows that'd pay big $$ for it. There was a guy that fell out of his kid's tree-house, and he won ten grand! Oh.... and the windows on some of the older rigs had pins in the hinges. Taking the pin out of the hinge was a way to remove the window. Good luck! |

did you check in the fuel tank or battery compartment or one of the other places on that model coach for a release button or lever? |

If you can get to the engine compartment you should be able to tap into the outlet of the compressor and plumb in a valve to air the bus with a shop compressor or air tank. The layout of the air system will determine exactly where to tap in. If not, can you get to the air tank drain for the tank that operates the door? If so remove the drain valve and hook up a compressor/air tank. Good luck. |

john, that's amazing. in fact I think that's what happened. Now that it depletes completely, and I put a block on the frame to stop it from landing on the suspension, I think it might have twisted the frame. I guess I better go make this thing inflate fast. |

as others have said get into the engine compartment and air it up, if you have no air chuck there you can plumb one in anywhere there is a tank drain, unscrew the drain mechanism and use size adapters to install a air line quick release chuck. (this is not a permanent thing, just for this time only) For a permanent air up location find a secure location (front aux air tank) and install 1/4 turn valve with your chuck downstream of the valve. Only use DOT aproved air line fittings for any permanent set ups.ick connect |

yeah. I already found some places I can tap into, but I have yet to find the DOT approved quick turn valve you mentioned. I checked the harbor freight, and will check home depot and lowes next., |

that looks more like the exhaust ports of some kind of relay....but I don't really know. You need a truck/farmers supply search HD air brake parts in your neighborhood. HD etc will not have the dot stuff. You can use non DOT for a temporary soluton. I you have a truck scrap yard you could scavenge all the bits you need from an old rig. |

Pete - Through the years, I've gotten myself into more trouble doing something like you're about to do. There are times that we feel desperate to "get something done", and end up doing the wrong thing. In your case, not being familiar with any part of the air system, or knowing what an air fitting looks like, it's really not a good idea to proceed down the path you're headed. (holy crap, I sound like an old fart) Seriously, man... why don't you spend a few bux and call a wrecker service that handles trucks and buses, and have them come out and either air the thing up for you, or lift it enough to open your door. Once you get that done, you can get some manuals and teach yourself about the bus's mechanical system, air, etc.. just like everyone else here had to do. Later, drive to a bus rally and ask questions.. But for now? Spend some money and hire someone, willya' please? |

yeah. I might do that. it's just that the bus in behind a lot of PITA vehicles, and wrecker might have a hard time going there. but I am sure if I throw enough money at them, they will find a way. |

there is no way there isn't an easy way to air up the bus ,you just need to find it. Open every hatch access panel etc...sometimes there is something across the front. Also the Nova buses have all their tanks just under roof, maybe try there. You really need a manual, I don't think you will ever get this thing running reliably without it |

just had a thought. If you now where this bus first did service, and it's not too far go by and see if you can beg a copy of the manuals. Perhaps just to run over to a copy shop and return. I once got service manuals from Volvo 'cause they never serviced pre 80's volvos any more. If the yard that maintained your bus during service had the book, and they don't have this model any more, they'll probably just give em to you. If the yard is too far away, give em a call. |

no, it's from south carolina, and I am in arizona. good thing though, I got in, went in from the top through the emergency hatch! wan't that hard, but that also gives me pause, because that means any yahoo with a 12' ladder can also get in. well, first thing first. the door was jammed because one of the locks wern't properly lubricated, and a little plastic thingy was jammed in there. so now it works, and I am a happy busnut again. |

Peter congratulations on conquering this ONE demon, please follow the good advice Patrick offered regarding acquiring the manuals. I can attest from personal experience that thingys, doohickeys and thingofabobs, can be the bain of things mechanical. wow my spell check just had a fit. |

There you go right there as Gomer stated, I do consider myself a fairly competent 4 cycle technician. and I completely forgot the woobly shaft. so you see friend peter without the manuals you are navigating in dangerous uncharted waters. |
