I don't really intend to start a political argument about government intrusion (ok maybe I do) but someone forwarded me a political rant on how much information was being asked for in the 2010 census. Apparently they are using GPS coordinates to map your abode this year for the first time. That got me thinking about folks whos "home" is where they shut it off at. How will they be counted and when is enough too much information for the "powers that be" to be privy too. (Bet you didn't think I could talk about the politics and privys without making an outhouse joke!) Anyway, I wish we were fully retired and able to be where we wanted to be without being tied to a GPS coordinate. I will include the link that got me started on this, but I will understand if Ian takes it down for being too inflammitory and off topic.

Hi John,

For two reasons, I have placed the "OT" label beside your subject line. 1) the topic you wish to speak to really doesn't have a lot to do with buses, per se, and 2) it is only topical to the US... at least for now.

And without disrespecting any other bulletin board system, off-topic threads are always welcome here, as long as they fall into that "sensible", "don't flame", "be nice" kind of behavior.

I swear that if government were to see that we're having mostly fun here at BNO, they'd probably tax that too, so anything is fair game as far as I'm concerned.

Have at 'er, my friend.

Ian

I am not going to comment on the issue of census questions. However, today I received a letter from the Census Bureau telling me that I would receive the census questionnaire in about a week and to please fill it out.

Now, I don't know what it cost them (us) to send out millions of letters telling us that we are going to get a letter next week, but I imagine it was substantial. Your taxes at work.

I wonder if we should include the spirits of generations past that still occupy our 150 year old Victorian today in the count??

The next time I see them, I will be sure to ask if they will be here on the 10th of April and mind being counted!!!!!
