RJ,

I sent you an email a few days ago, but your spam filter may have intercepted it.

About a year and a half ago, you provided me with the delivery info on my bus, which is not listed in the online lists. I have since misplaced that info.

It is P8M4905A-1308. When you get a chance, would you mind looking it up again?

Many thanks,

Bob

Do you really want to find out that your coach was made on Tuesday , the 18th of March by the 3rd shift crew of predominantly Irish who had also brought their progeny to work with them as part of "Bring your kid to work" day and that your coach was the Miracle Coach assembled by those kids with their parents "stuporvision"..?

Bob -

Sure - P8M4905-1308 was delivered new in October of 1975 to the Skinner Corp, based in Lanett, AL.

No fleet number indicated on my roster, so you can try to solve that mystery at your end.

Jack -

I resemble that remark, so you owe me a Guinness!

Mark -

According to my roster, PD3751-438 was delivered new in September of 1947 as fleet number 554 to Pacific Greyhound Lines, based in San Francisco, CA.

Probably spent the majority of it's career running up and down the state between SF & LA.

I don't think it was transferred to another division while it was still w/ 'Hound. As you may know, back then they sold their older coaches off after the summer season when they were 10 years old. So your Silversides probably was sold in the fall of 1957.

Now, checking my delivery roster, I see that Pacific Greyhound Lines bought three 4104s that were delivered in June of 1957, and Western Greyhound Lines, also based out of SF, received an order for twelve 4104s in June and July of 1957. Fleet numbers were sequential between the PGL & WGL orders, so the division name change obviously took place during the same period.

So it looks like you got yourself a West Coast Car that's still in it's old stomping grounds!

That's what I was hoping for. I don't believe it spent any time east of the rockies in revenue service, but we'll see. The old timer that converted it was from Phoenix. I should be able to pick up the GHL fleet number when I start sanding, as the original GHL paint is still on it. Retrieving it from the desert today and loading it up on a Landoll. Keep you posted. Thanks RJ.

Mark

Where in the Phoenix area did you find your "Find"? Just got back home tonight warming our bones a bit for the last couple of weeks in the Phoenix area.

Joe.

Joe I found it in Apache Junction. It had been sitting in the same spot for 26 years. It went down due to a fan blade going through the rad and was never repaired. Probably a good thing, who knows what would have happened to it in the last 26 years otherwise. It started right up with a little tinkering. Undergoing further repairs currently. Can't figure out how to post pictures here from my photo software. Pics to large. By the way it was Pacific Greyhound unit no. 554; PD3751-438.
