i have a honda propane generator model #ev6010 with a beam 202 regulator and a red hat on top.the unit will not start unless i cut off the propane let her crank and then turn it back on. i have talked with the person that installed this unit and he told me to hook it to a bbq regulator and it still will not start when it dose start after pinching the line it will run just fine, any ideas what the problem may be? thanks tom |

sounds like the unit is "flooding"... just like it would if it were a gasoline unit... check and make sure that the gas regulator isn't "creeping" up in pressure and that the gas solenoid valve is not leaking...use a manometer to check the gas pressure .... if i'm not mistaken 7" h20 is close... |

Tom; since it is propane it will need a pressure reading of 11 water column inches. Max pressure is 14 wci. If, by chance you ever need a formula to go by, remember, natural gas is 4-7 and lp,propane is 11-14 wci. I usually set it at a starting point of 11 and adjust the regulatorfor the best operation of the unit, some need 11 others may need 14 but rarely. Now I have both types of meters and I get more of a positive results from the manomometer, not manometer LOL that is a good one!! Your local supplier of lp can help you set it and probably wont cost a lot if any. Gomer |

I think Gomer is pulling your leg as far as the device name. It is manometer, not manomometer. But the rest sounds right on the money. |

I have the gas version and it does the same thing. I have to crank it over for 15 to 20 seconds , quit and do it again at it fires up, runs on the rough side for awhile and then goes. I was thinking carb but i don't really know. Grant |

Hi Grant, My Honda 6010 acted the same as yours and here is the correction we used as per the distributor (Hicklin Distributing @515 nine eight six 9557). It seems the "Rod Joint" atop the carburetor was missing and not allowing stable fuel feed. If the "rod joint" has become disconnected, the same results should happen. The item number is 12 16263-ZE3-790 and the cost was $2.50. Once installed it now only takes a few seconds cranking to start. Mine also 'bubbles' after starting, but only until the required temperature to stabilize the choke. Hope this helps. |

we have[after 32 e mails] found the problem. the 202 regulator is supposed to only provide fuel when there is vac and not while stopped. the unit was spewing propane into the carburator causing it to flood. this only happens on a beam 202a regulator.my guy at western supply in tacoma [wonderful fella please patronize him for all your propane needs.]told me to stretch the spring out a little and see how that works.he really thinks i need to invest in a new regulator. but $$ are tight as we have loads of hospital bills for my sons suergury last month. |
