ans. to the last question first, yes you can add power steering to your 4104 easy...#1 find a gm transit that has had power steering added to it and get the powerstering pump, the hoses, and fittings and the shepard power steering unit.of a 40' is best as the hoses will be the right length or even a little long but it likly that the fittings are the reusable type just rember before you cut the hose to tape it on both sides of the cut with a angle grinder or metal chop saw, also the end of the shaft that fits on the steering unit as you will have to have it cut to length and welded. the front axel should be taped for the 2 bolts that go into the front of the axel. put the bus over a pit or get the front end of the ground at least a foot so you have clearance to work under it be sure that it properly BLOCKED so it cannot roll or come down on you when you are under it. run electical conduit underneath in one of the grooves front bulk head to the bulkhead in front of the rear tires, the run the hoses up tounderside of the floor and fasten in place, drill holes for the through bulkhead fittinsan the passanger side of the bus with the oil resivoir mounted on that side cradle post. mount the powersteering pump on the end of the blower, you will need to get a longer blower shaft from detroit deisel shop and the rest is easy . mel 4104 PS if you need mone inf. phone me 1-250-248-2766 |

You can also install the Air O Matic , which requires lots less instalation , AND has an OFF switch so it wont upset a fine driving machine , just help in campground parking or urban jungle jaunts. FAST FRED |

Bster, I think Mel means you need the little drive shaft that attaches to the input shaft of the steering box. Since the reqired length will be different than standard, you would measure how long it needs to be, then have it shortened at a driveline shop. Tell them it is for a jeep or something, DO NOT MENTION THAT IT IS A STEERING PART FOR A BUS!!! I mentioned that & they refused to work on it saying they didn't want the liability. Jim-Bob |
