Have an opprtunity to trade for a new (never opened) Flojet water pump, model 4406-143. (With internal bypass) Not a big ticket item but I don't want something that won't do the job. Here's what it says: Features: Self priming Dry running IAPMO listed,12 VOLT Model CSA listed, 12 volt Model Motor: Permanent Magnet, Ball Bearing Pump: Thermal Overload protection; 4 chamber diaphragm design; Self priming up to 6 ft.suction lift; Pump able to run dry without damage; Removable port to hose connection Amp draw: 10 psi(0.7bar)-3.9 amp Flow: 3.3 gpm pressure switch psi: ON OFF (bar) 20(1.4) 35(2.4) Is this adequate, marginal, obsolete??? Any imput? thanks, John |

I like more than 10 psi, but the 3.9 amp draw is good if you boondock. 3.3 gpm is not too bad. All in all it's a mid grade unit, performance wise. Flo-Jet's are reliable for the most part. You need to balance your desire for pressure/amp-draw/gpm. A change in one is offset by a gain/loss in one or more of the categories. Get a catalog and study the available models and you will begin to see the pattern. HTH Cheers...JJ |

The pump is going on at 20psi & off at 35psi , certainly enough to dewater rapidly. Will do great with moderate sized shower head. Will bew a bit slow at filling 40gal into a clothes washer , and might be a bit shy of pressure for a cheap dishwasher. But for the adverage camper it will work just fine! The low amp figure is to confuse you to thinking that small low pressure open flow number is actual amp draw. It will probably draw twice that at 35psi shut off. FAST FRED |
