the back of a 6-71? Do all the other -71 share this part? How about the -92?
Thanks for any and all info. Patrick.

Patrick
I believe you are referring to the flywheel housing, there are for the most part two versions sae #1 and #2 and for our old bus applications you will find the #1 the most common.

not sure if the flywheel housing is interchangeable between 71 and 92 versions. If you need to know, I will have to take a tape measure and check.

Still donot have #, but 71 and 92 are not interchangable,71 has 5bolts and92 has 6 bolts for mounting. Flywheel housings are quite different also.

Patrick, aren't you talking about the accessory drive that bolts onto the flywheel housing and has a pulley to drive your alternator?
Not the flywheel housing itself.

Jim
That is correct, but sometimes we answer without really knowing what the question really asked for.

I'll try to clarify but as I don't have any part #s/names so it is a little hard to be clear.
I am looking for the accessory drive housing and bits that bolt (using 5 bolts) onto the back of a 6-71. It bolts on gear train cover (above the flywheel cover) where a gear driven generator/alternator would usually be. There seem to be a few different ones out ther. A part # would allow me to order one online .

call Leid... they supplied ours; just tell them what you want. They were also used on 8-71's and 6-71's in over the road trucks, since they used belt drive alternators.

There are two types of accessory drives, one with a bearing assy in the cover and the other with only a seal in the cover since it flanges directly to the camshaft gear without a coupling like the other. I will try to attach photos of both types complete with part numbers.
The pics were too big to attach, I will send them to your e-mail that is listed in your profile. You might want to check your spam folder for mail from dr_detroit_98@yahoo.com
