How can you tell if your allison transmission is slipping

If you have a tach. it might indicate slippage, but maybe not,if only a little slipping occurs. It probably would be too inaccurate to figure the final drive ratio/gear ratio/tire circumference, but you might compare with someone that has a similar setup if he also has a tach.

I've been pondering the same question since my coach has an HT 748 and doesn't have a tach.

With a temp gauge, it will usually run hot if it's slipping. If you don't have a trans temp gauge, well WHY NOT?!
