How can I check to see if the alternator is a fault on my 4501 1955. I had the unit rebuilt a few months ago and a new solid state regulator installed. The NO CHARGE light will not go out and there is no voltage on the positive to gnd terminal of the regulator. It will not turn on when engine speed is increased. Has been working fine until a short trip last week.

Thanks

I am not familiar with a 4501 but in most busses the positive terminal on the alternator has a big cable that goes directly to the positive terminal of the battery. It looks like that cable is not making a good connection at both ends or you have lost the ground connection from the battery. Do you have voltage from the positive terminal of the battery to ground? If so, you should have it at the other end of the cable.
