I am looking at buying an Onan QD 7500 generator. It is the green, self contained, enclosed, water cooled units you see on the internet. The P/O removed all the coach heat and air so that is gone. Where do you guys put this type of generator in an MC8? Should I put it in the condenser bay (looks kinda limited on space to me) or the front baggage bay? Suggestions, opinions appreciated. |

I have seen a lot of them in the air conditioner condensor space just behind the drivers wheel. I had set aside that space in my MC5 for one and though it would have been tight, with a little luck and a big hammer, I think it would have went. Mine is in the same space in our GM but I know the size and configuration is different in your MC 8 . Use that room if you can. NO wasted space! John |

My 5.0 BGA Onan is in AC cond. , needed to take it off it's pan, but used the 3 rubber mounts, also had to run a big cable to ground 12V DC for starting cause it uses house battery for starting. It is a chore getting it in, mine is long so it goes in and turns, no way for a straight in slide. But it can be serviced without removal. Mine is a MC-8 also. To do a slide, it would need to duplicate the side door of a herse (casket removal) slide. But height maybe a problem, so is the weight of the slide assembly, not the generator. |
