Hi,
Well, we are now the proud owners of the MC9 we have been asking questions about. We love it! So far, we have removed the seats, taken down the luggage racks (a WHOLE lot easier than the ones in the GMC 4108!) removed the walls, sink, toilet, etc out of the bathroom.
Now for the next question, that stainless steel pan in the floor (the diamond plated one) is there plywood underneath, or will there be a hole when I take it out? Any tips on how to get it out? So far the construction and the ride on the MCI is far better than the 4108! We love it!

If it is like my MC8, the answer is 'yes'. There is flooring under, but you may want to cut it out and patch in a new piece, the old one will STINK!! I drove in a wonder bar right next to it and pried it out. A lot easier job than I expected. HTH

I used a Skill saw and cut through the plywood about a couple of inches outside the area of the stainless steel floor plan. I was able to the chisel the last couple of inches that the Skill saw wouldn't reach and remove the plywwod that covered the flange on the floor pan. Removal of the pan was easy after that and I cut a new piece of plywood for the floor where the pan had been. Set the saw dept to just the thickness of the plywood. There is some steel framewok underneath.

There are 4 bolts that hold that pan to the framework underneath, plus the plywood and aluminum skin over the framework top and bottom.
It comes out easier than you think with the right prybars. Also, the holding tank WILL fit out the access door as long as the drain pipes have been removed.

P.S.
In the overhead area of the bathroom is where I found a circuit that was hot even though the main was shut down, be careful there.

Pull the flexible cover from around the chute from the toilet to the tank and undo the the large band clamp that is around it. Once you have all the other bolts, etc. removed, the tank will drop down and can be manouvered out the side door (even with the AC compressor in place). You will need to break off and remove at least part of the fiberglass cover that is around the holding tank, so as to gain access to the four mounting bolts.

Esther -

I know you don't want to hear this, but, rip out the back 13'8" of floor, wall to wall. It's much easier to clean the hair and bubblegum out of the duct work this way. Take out all the wet insulation, prime the steel, replace the insulation with something better, and don't worry about the hole in the floor. You can fix it now with new plywood.
