Pete,I think it would be wise to collect as many catalogs, handbooks, etc. as you can. It should start to point you in the right direction. I have a large collection of publications and can't really say one is better that the rest, but some are not as suited to my needs as others. Start with the ones that advertise in RV oriented magazines, check the web, and go from there. HTH. Dale MC8 |

Hi Pete, One of the thoughts that I have is that the limited space on the top of the bus would mean that you get the highest watts per panel you can afford. The 75 watt panels are very reasonable but if you can only fit 5 panels then getting the 150 watt ones makes more sense. If you only get 3, then you have more power and room for 2 more. I believe the highest I've seen is 170 watts. I'm taking the same approach, that's why I only have an SW4024. It is currently wired into the bus batteries for the A/C. Once I worked that into my budget, there was no money for the batteries, the charge controller or the panels. They will come as the budget dictates. I've seen good prices here... http://www.solarsolar.com Bought some stuff here... http://www.rockygrove.com Bought the factory reconditioned SW4024 here... http://www.desotoenergy.com Good Luck, Craig S |

Hey Pete, Something to keep in mind when you are putting panels on the roof is to not put them in the area that you are going to want to keep cool by parking in the shade. I know, sounds obvious, but I learned the hard way that sitting down with pencil and paper and drawing out the plans is not the only/best way. My first solar installation on a small 5th wheel went where it was obvious, on the overhang, above the bed. Spent some sweaty nights cursing myself for overlooking the obvious. HTH Dale MC8 |
