I have just purchased a mini split. I hear that they require lots of cool air around the compressor modual. How do you guys handle this? I would very much appreciate experience before i instal. Thanks John |

John, That is in many ways influenced by what kind of bus you have. I was going to put one of mine in the Bay of my MC5 before I sold it and started on my Neoplan. The Neoplan has a perfect spot above the engine that is insulated from the engine and has a huge access door along with a fresh air feed. (I may also duct a separate external fresh air feed to the intakes of the compressors) When I first started looking at these, one fellow with an MCI had constructed an insulated & vented compartment in the space cleared out when he took out his coach air. He had run it there for 3 years and it had worked just fine. He put the other compressor in a bay with an intake in the bay door and exhaust out the floor. He used a plate and a scoop to keep water from coming in the exhaust out the floor. I chatted with another MCI owner who had taken out his spare tire and mounted 2 of them in that space. He had not run it long enough to know how it would fare. I thought about that but had a concern about the loss of the tire and how much water would get in there along with good air flow What ever you do it will require some creativity and CAREFUL attention to good intake of cooler air and a way to exhaust the hot air from the compressor. In a month I will have some pics of my installation of 3. Hope that helps Arthur |
