i called the metal recyclers today as i had 3 aluminum bay door bottoms to get rid of and my best offer was 25 cents a pound, when the spot price is $1.04 per pound. i then called my old home towns recycle center and was offered 5 cents per pound but if they were coke cans they would give $1.55 per pound. how can the price be so low? |

Here in Tucson the price was .55 last week but it is a commodity & as such the price changes all day every day. I'll have to take a walk thru Wonderland tomorrow, I'll post a SitRep in the afternoon PDT. Generally 50% of Spot Price is the price paid for CLEAN Aluminum. |

Save it. my son gets emails from the local yards when the prices are up or down and when the timing is right we take the scrap in.(we get alot of scrap copper). When business is slow we seperate everything and get the clean sorted out. way big $ difference. |

I recycled a bunch of sheet aluminum two or three weeks ago and got around 55 cents a lb. I got a little more for cans. |

The thief that stole my bay doors got ~20 cents/ pound. The recycler said it had some steel in it & that was why. He also didn't like any paint on it either. My experience has also been that I get one price quoted over the phone, but once there they come up with lots of reasons to discount the quote. . . |
