this is in my 04 with 6-71
drop the fuel line from the fuel pump in a bucket of fuel and it runs perfect.
drop a line from the input side of the primary into a bucket o fuel and it runs perfect.
i closed off the fuel line at the input side of primary and pressurized it from the tank end .
no apparent leakage.
all filters and gaskets are new
motor runs badly if the bleeder on top of secondary is tight.
if i leave it open to bleed off air bus runs great, close it and it runs badly.
MY QUESTION
can i cheat and just take a line with a valve of some sort, from the bleeder hole and reintroduce this minimal drool of fuel back into the return line ,past the restriction fitting, going back to the fuel tank.
would rather not cheat, but i have not much time before i leave for vacation.

You can't plumb the bleeder into the return line-- the return line is under pressure so the fuel would circulate back into the secondary filter along with the air you are trying to get rid of. The source of your air is probably the fuel line between the bulkhead and the primary filter. Pressurizinng the line will not always find the problem-- you are applying pressure to a suction leak.

check and make sure that your gasket is working and that it is not letting air into the line as the fuel pump will make it leak if you have a problem withit or the fuel filter if you are getting air i would try a different gasket 9 always use a new one.
