I've been offered a rebuilt Allison HT740, and a rebuilt 8V71 turbo for my MC 8, from this shop in Tucson AZ.

Does anybody know anything good or bad about them?

In the past there have been several negative postings and comment about this company concerning misrepresentation, price baiting, and dishonored warranties. Personally, a little over a year ago they had a bus on e-bay for sale and my inquiry to them about it resulted in vague answers to pointed questions which led me to the conclusion that they had misrepresented its' condition in the ad.

Last winter I was in Tucson and stopped to ask them about installing a Jake brake on my MC 8. I never did get a firm answer, or a firm time on how long it wold take to install. BVest I coulf get was "about $2400, give or take." Give or take what? (Just had the Jake installed in Tennessee for about 2/3 of the figure Az Transmissions was talking.)
My stepson was interested in an RTS they had on Ebay and went to look at it. Again, more vague answers and we never could pin down a price they would sell it for, any info on the history of the bus, etc. I don't like to do business with places who play these games.

That would be nice, huh?

It's out there somewhere, unless it got hit by an alien spacecraft like the one in Men in Black that demolished that farmer's pickup truck...

Peter, I had a mild anxiety attack while checking out that transmission shop in Phoenix for you. In their back lot at 15th Avenue and Buckeye was a Valley Metro RTS with no battery compartment cover and no "V" logo covering the windows, exactly like my bus. For a moment, I thought sure I had found my stolen bus and had visions of cop cars surrounding the place and dozens of guns drawn as the whole police department raids the tranny shop.

But, alas, the bus had seats, was a different unit number and was in much worse condition than my bus had been. There were three RTS buses on the premises, and a New Flyer, all Valley Metro except one. I asked the foreman about them. He said he owned one, and the rest were from Laidlaw, one of Valley Metro's contractors.

I really did almost have a heart attack, though.

I'm still looking.

Aztrany is their Ebay name and they had a bunch of out-right and exchange trannys, such as large and small World and 740, etc all on Ebay, but I don't think they sold many. One was supposedly brand new..... Hmmmmm, a likely story.

Randy, sorry about your blood pressure!!! Hope you do find your missing bus.

Peter.
