In putting together the front we just realized the S cam bushing on one side is shot. Would like to find a pair , and zero time the entire front brake system. Any suggestions for a source ? The Flex VL 100 is a 1956 if that makes a difference. Some imbecile removed the tag from the axle , sometime in the coaches past , so just a positive ID would help. It is always easier to purchase than simply machine from raw stock , so here's hoping. Thanks,, FF |

Hi Fred, Couple of ways I would go about it. If you can knock one of the old ones out, any large commercial brake shop should have them, maybe your NAPA. The S cam and round tubing are going to be relatively common. So the bushing should also be common. You can also mike the ID and OD and go to the brake supply and start looking. This may be easiest. If you have room for a wider bushing, put the wide bushing in because it will last longer. Make a wire probe with a small hook on the end and check behind the worn bushing to see if there is a space that allows pounding the new one in while leaving the old one to be pushed farther into the tubing. You can also use the wire to get a real close measurement of the bushing width while you are at it to check for space to allow 2 bushings in the tubing. Or, take the S cam to the brake shop and see what bushing fits the shaft, use a tape measure to get the OD and knock the new bushing in right on top of the old one. |
