I have a 740 in my Eagle 10 and I now have to jiggle the lever to get in gear sometimes. It looks like there is an adjustment below the lever that has a lock nut and threaded rod for adjustment. Any help would be apprecicated. |

there is no internal adjustment on the shift arm.... the shift cable is adustable on both ends....there are only detents inside the transmission...a ball and spring.... |

ok,what you have to do is line the detent in the transmission up with the detent in the shifter. first put your shifter in the most foreward posistion the hold the release button in and keep it in and pull the shifter back by doing this you are keeping the detent in the shifter released and only feeling the one in the transmission then release the button and see which way the the shift lever has to move in order to line up the both detents in most case you will be able do do this right at the shifter in some extreme cases you will have to adjust at the other side of the cable . Do not drive your bus any more until you have the cable adjusted this can misposistion the manual valve in the valvebody and cause a loss of pressure to the clutch packs this also applys to everyone driving around with stiff shift cables I can't count how many times I've seen transmissions ruined by stiff or misadjusted shift cables. I fixed my shifting problem yesterday. The problem was the linkage on the transmission end. Part of it had come loose and it really needed to be greased. It is now a joy to shift again. |
