Did any of you use Formica type sheeting on your walls? I am considering it for the modern look and the low alergy benefits. The coach would probably not be as quiet inside, huh? Anyone with experience?

Hi Greg, see you survived Erica (Ericka, Erika)? I used it on the walls in the bathroom and had no problems with it. I don't think noise is a problem.

WE have all the factory glass , and the bone stock easy to clean formica overhead. There IS NO noise problem.

However if your extrodinarily sensative& want a 40 db interior at FLANK SPEED a sheet of 1/16 lead under carpeting will do the trick.

Or just purchase the carpet , with sound damping in it from Soundown.

Std. Marine product ,works great, but big $$$.

Greg,
My Prevost Champion, converted in '93, has white laminate over 1/2" plywood walls and cabinets throughout. After 4 years use, we still love it! The ceiling is off white naugahyde. can't beat it for easy cleaning and durability. No more noise problem than you'd have with wood paneling. Some oak trim warms it up.
Take a look at the red '76 Prevost in BNO buses for sale over $35K, if you wish to see how it looks.

Thanks guys. I am thinking I will use the naugahyde on my ceiling too. Are you about to convert another bus Rodger?

I've loved traveling in the bus but don't have plans for another one. We've made a few circuits around the US with this one but don't travel much anymore. My wife doesn't share my enthusiasm for long trips in the bus. She says she feels too confined living aboard our bus for longer than a few days at a stretch. She's seen some trailers and motorhomes with slideouts and thinks she'd be happier in those.
I've had experience with stick and staple motorhomes and don't like driving them. Once the bus is sold, I'll shop for a travel trailer or maybe a 5th wheel. I sure won't enjoy dragging a trailer behind a truck like I enjoy driving our bus but admit it makes more sense than leaving the bus parked for 10 months out of the year. I need the truck anyway for our small farm. Also hoping my wife may be happier with more open living space so we can both enjoy at least an annual winter trip.

Rodger, I am in the same shape. DML is just sitting! I put about 150,000 miles on her and have travelled every major interstate and visited every state, plus many miles on the blue lines. My daughter and son in law live with us now and they have a 28 ft trailer with a slideout and I already have a F350 truck, so think I am going to try the trailer out. Should be good for short trips in the mountains of WV and will be a lot easier to get into the campsites than the bus is. I am sure going to miss her though. Once a bus nut, always a bus nut.

Richard and Roger:

How sad to hear you're going BACKWARDS from a bus to a stick and staple rig!

Of course I'm just teasing a bit, but most of us are doing just the opposite!

And it's true, trailers do have their advantages. We've spent many a happy vacations with ours.

What ever you end up doing, have fun camping!

I went the whole trip starting with a pop up camper behind a Datsun pickup, thru several sizes and types of stick and staples before I finally got my bus. Sure hate going backward, but as situations change and age creeps up, it is something we will eventually have to do.

I know one thing I won't go back to-- tent camping in the dirt and sun!

I tell my wife we are going to end up in Livingston, TX in the Escapee's assisted care RV park, but she is hedging my bet by demanding we keep the house. But like Ricahrd, I would be happy to stay in my house once I get burned out on traveling. Right now I'm ready to travel!

Thats why coaching is SOO much fun , every one does his thing .

We love the view from laying in bed and looking out the huge rear window at the mountains off across clear blue waters in Seward .

Only aroma is the smell of clean sea water ,
only sounds the small waves lapping on the shore 10 ft away.

Enjoy your diesel stench & truck stop fried grease aromas, and dumbos leaving their bosses rig idle distructivly all night long.

For SURE!!
I won't be competing for a parking space !!

All for fun,

FAST FRED

Thanks, FF. As the old Camel ad said "I'd walk a mile for a Flying J and their buffet dinner" LOL
Richard
PS, that was Camel, wasn't it?
