When I was getting off the highway after a short (80 mile) excursion yesterday, I downshifted to third and was going to go to second but the light turned green. I left it in third and lugged it a bit to the next light which was red. When I left this light in 1st I noticed the exhaust sounded different...hard to describe, but the engine sounds snappier. It remained like this thru 2nd and third. I haven't had a chance to climb underneath to see if anything is leaking as its currently raining out. I had exhaust work done less than 300 miles ago, (muffler wasn't changed) was thinking maybe I blew out a baffle in the muffler??? Mike McCarthy 1969 GMC 4903 Forestville CT |

Mike My 4104 has new stampco straight though muffles/ no baffles. Boy when I go under an over pass or a bridge with the ticket window open it sure sounds good. John |

It may sound good to you at 35 feet in front of the muffler, but pity the poor S.O.B. stuck in traffic behind you. Red light after red light, or on a long upgrade and the DD screamin'! Maybe the baby has been sick and JUST got to sleep...But now? Loud exhausts SUCK. ...JJ |

The exhasts are turned away at 90 deg from the rear so it you do not get the real effect, directly behind, for the family and the baby. But Now if you are walking alond the drivers side yes you get that beutiful low roar of the 71. Actually I thought with ramco suppling sraight though mufflers it would be a hole lot louder. John |

Best sound in the world: 5.9 litre Cummins running WOT and ~3000RPM through a 5" straightpipe. Yowza! |

"Best sound in the world: 5.9 litre Cummins running WOT and ~3000RPM through a 5" straightpipe. Yowza! " I agree with JJ here , your fellow campers may not be as enthused with pure noise as you are. As the Libertians say , Your freedom to swing your arm STOPS at my face! Harleys may be only personal jewlery , statements for the underhung that need noise to compensate for missing parts . Sad to see this concept on coaches now that one or two campgrounds are banning older conversions , this could be a great reason to ban us all. Too Loud , Too Noisy , Too Stinky. GREAT! FAST FRED |

I think Fred was trying for "Libertarians". And that ISB was no louder than stock...until the driver nailed the pedal. I'd say it was STILL not much louder (if any) than a WOT "screaming Jimmy" 2-stroke Detroit pulling a hill. |

Fred Even with the stampcos you can stand at the rear and give it full throatle and its not deafining. I guess its just the The set up of the Detroit Now if your talking cummings in a 97 through 2000 dodge pick up ( probable what jj drives ) then you can not even hear to order at a fast food drive in, you have to turn it offf.I am by no means belittling your truck jj. cummings has great power, great 100,000 mile warrent,be its a noisey engine. Hey JR...I don't got no dodge or cuminz. I drive a cut down Geo Metro with 9 old style lead acid batteries powering a pair of Ford Galaxy 500 starter motors.(AWD?) No second or third but it's great red light to red light. Ask FF, he's seen it! Tell him I painted it green to match his 4106 if he is still interested in buying it. Also I've just added a new solar charging system, the same size and shape as the ones that the Dep't of Transportation uses on highway construction jobs.. Shame on you...a dodge? me? Oh Lordy, my Pappy would roll over!!! Cheers...JJ |

JJ, I think it would be extremely difficult to match the color of FF's bus. LOL Richard |
