Hi,

I'm trying to learn about jake brakes and locate jake brakes for my 1981 MCI 9, DD 6V92TA, Allison auto, not DDEC. The engine does not have a jake brake, but the valve covers are the taller type and there is a toggle in drivers area for a jake - so the bus may have had one at some time or the PO intended to install at some time.

1) Can anyone tell me the correct jake brake part number(s) for this engine? BTW, there is a new set on an auction site, but the seller does not know what engine it fits. Part #: 1012473

2) Can anyone suggest a source for the parts?

3) Besides the actual jake brakes that go under the valve covers, what other parts will I need?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Go by the model number for your engine it should be 71/92A on the housing if they have just the 71 on the housing pass on that set

good luck

Go on the Jake site and download the install and adjust procedure.

You may be supprised at the amount of work.
