Riiiight.... Let's buy a bus in Hong Kong from a guy with a zero feedback rating, where the interior photo is clearly of a completely different bus than the exterior photos. ;) I note the reserve has not been met, so I don't think three bucks is gonna be the winning bid. Assuming someone in the US manages to win this (if it even exists), I would guess a minimum of six months and $50,000 to get it out of customs, after Americanizing everything to comply with FMVSS 108 and current EPA regs (if US-spec glass is even available). FWIW. -Sean http://OurOdyssey.BlogSpot.com |

Gomer: Here is a bus that you might want to fix up. I think you can get at a low cost. What you think? Thanks Steve P.S. This is not my bus that I have been working on. |

Steven, Now that is clever. I've seen a railroad box car as a shelter, but it was above ground with dirt piled to it, except around the door. This in the ground looks much more secure. They use these at kid's camps and such. Good Yankee ingenuity. David |

My neighbors have one of these and it saved eight peoples lives in 2008 after their two homes got a direct hit from one of the biggest tornadoes in Arkansas history. It was one half to one mile wide and ran 121 miles on the ground! It missed my house by about a hundred yards. |

I have a friend who buried a GM Astro Van built into a hill in his back yard it is so that the back doors are flush with the hill and open up. He has the front seats turned toward the back and against the front (what used to be a dash w/ steering column removed) and a nice comfy sofa bed along one side a sink w/ running water and a micro wave and micro fridge on the other wall. Not a lot of extra room but it is big enough for him and the wife! He has it wired w/elec and cable and uses it from time to time as "his man cave" It still has the engine still in it w/ heat & A/c still hooked up. The engine drives a gen. head for emergency power. I asked him what happens when it needs repairs and he laughed and said I guess it won't have A/C-heat or emergency elec! |
