Let the debate begin. I just purchased a small swivel wheel trailer with a 2 point connection to the back of my rig to haul my golf cart. This trailer has 2 swivel wheels on it a 2 point connection and a reciever on the rear for my tow bar. the trailer from bumper to front of toad is only 48 inches the cart sits on it sideways so I will not be over length but will I be double or triple towing and will I be legal??

Matt, thats a interesting set up and I'll bet the requirements are different in every state. When you register to "double tow" in Wisconsin, the law states that the farthest back vehicle can never be a car or heavy trailer, only a boat or rv's, golf cart, etc. They are worried about the back one being so much heavier than the "middle tow". I can see the DOT scratching their head though!

Matt -

To help us really debate this issue intelligently, how about posting a few pictures?

Empty and loaded

Freestanding and hooked to tow vehicle

Second trailer hooked to it.

That will give us a lot more to go on!

FWIW & HTH. . .

Matt, best is to hook the trailer to your toad, cause the whip action of the loooong hitch. I know it is a pain to detach that trailer, but your toad will set another 4ft. back. Before you do the trailer, get the 5ft long square insert for the receiver, install a ball on it, hook and do a very slow short tow, with someone following to check the toad movement. BUT the extended bar will may/flex (bend). My receiver platform is at my house and is 5ft. long (goes across rear) and 39in wide (extends back). However, at present I am in Tx., but my cell # is same as house. Oh the bus at 56-60 is 6.5-7+, and got it verrrry warm on hills, need to manually down shift earlier, do not want to weigh it yet.

what kind of suspension on the swivel wheels? As the bus moves up and down, the swivel wheels will need some type of movement to maintain constant pressure on the road. Jack

Sounds to me like an extension of the bus. Is there a tow capacity rating on the golf cart trailer? Good Luck, TomC
