Another newbie question. What is an air throttle, how does it work and where do you get them? |

Here is a link where you can see one, and buy it if you wish: http://www.ronthebusnut.com/detailDisp.php?item=2000300 It works almost effortlessly as opposed to lenthy cables or linkage, by valving air from your new accelerator by a tube to the unit on the engine. Many buses come with this exact setup as original equipment. |

I have one that was put on my bus when they put the automatic in it, i honestly dont see how it works a bit better than the old set up i had, of course i dont have to worry about cables or linkage anymore, there are those i know that would argue with me but thats been my experience. and i wish i had never put the 730 in it. my nice ten miles to the gallon went right out the window as well as that nice 180 degree temp regardless of what i was doing. Yeah Two Dogs, I drove Eagles with standards and they are pussy cats. Try it thru a large town in dense traffic with a 4905 with extra heavy clutch springs installed in the pressureplate once, entirely different ballgame. Big difference. An Eagle with a 10 speed is still my personal favorite, "no clutch shifting" just like a sweet big ol truck, and you can put it where you want it to be. A real woose bus. |

I converted my 4106 years ago when it had the old stick in it, its great. Any one who trys to swervice the old cable the will only do it once. also you loose so much ground speed between shifts beacuse of the large gaps in gearing and letting the engine RPMs come down slowly the air throttal is the only way to go.Just dont miss a shift. Yes you do loose some gas milage with the V730 due to the change in gearing, but I love it especially in the hills. Very seldom does my temp go over 180, but I do have a new radiator |

For al b, question, how high will your temps go?? do you have a separate transmission oil cooler or does it have the heat exchanger that cools with radiator water?? what mpg are you getting?? and what is your top speed?? thanks Frank Allen 4106 |
