SAN ANTONIO — Grammy-winning Tejano singer Emilio Navaira says he has trouble remembering his own lyrics since he injured his head when he wrecked his tour bus in a DWI accident.

The singer, known to his fans as Emilio, told jurors in a San Antonio courtroom Wednesday that he's still recovering from brain damage suffered in the 2008 crash in the Houston area.

Former band member Richard Vega brought the $1 million civil lawsuit against Navaira. The bass player is expected to testify Thursday. Vega suffered a lacerated liver and a dislocated shoulder in the accident.

Navaira pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated a year after the crash that sent him through the vehicle's front windshield.

If that bus hit the overpass that hard though, the Drop Box may be dropped so to speak or a few teeth missing.

I remember the night that happened. I was about an hour ahead of them bringing a group from the Houston Rodeo home to San Antonio.

I'm sure glad nobody was killed.
