sorry jack just had to post this...
I never knew this.
Penguins

Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins
on the ice in Antarctica - where do they go ?

Wonder no more ! ! !

It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic
bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life.

The penguin is very committed to its family and will
mate for life, as well as maintaining a form of
compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life.

If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other
Members of the family and social circle have been
Known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial
Wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for
The dead bird to be rolled into and buried.
The male penguins then gather in a circle
Around the fresh grave and sing:

"Freeze a jolly good fellow"

"Freeze a jolly good fellow."

"Then they kick him in the ice hole."

You really didn't believe that I know anything about penguins, did you?

It's so easy to fool OLD people

There are several species of the bird, almost all different in almost every respect.
Emperor Penguins do in fact mourn, Adele's not at all, in my experience.
One reason there are no dead ones is the same as why there are no slow ones either....they get eaten!
Leopard Seals, who've mouths large enough to swallow Basket Balls because of their ability to distend their jaws like a Boa Constrictor can.
In my particular case A "Lep" would be able to swallow me in 2 bites with out blinking an eye.
Their always hungry, more so than terrestrial animals & their aggressiveness is superior to that of Orca's, Sharks etc.
There have been lives lost to them in Antarctica, back in time, Sled dogs would disappear without a trace as well.

Sorry to go serious on a humor thread...
the opportunity presented itself to satisfy some latent curiosity others have expressed in the past.

The Brit's were the originator of that yarn above..
It happened to be the "In Joke" for those on The Ice during the IGY in 1959.
It went from ship to ship via cross pollination during extended late night drinking binges between the 2 Navy's swabbies.

These day I find that to make that joke work on someone
they have to be pretty green & gullible, there's more & more everyday tho!

Phineas J. Whoppie, YOU'RE the GREATEST..!!!

Leonardo Productions begat Tennessee,
who made more money & fame for the voice actor Don Adams, than he got for doing GET SMART....go figure eh?

more Penguin UN humor for those with 6-71's in the back of their Coaches....

A Penguin walks into a bar and says to the Bartender,
"I am looking for my Brother. Have you seen him?"

The Bartender says,
"Hmmm, I'm not sure. What's he look like?"
