Last summer I bought 2 Carrier Air V heat pumps for ducted system. When they came I bench tested them both for a few minuets in each cycle. They worked. I put them back in there boxes. Now they are all mounted, ducts in. The one works great. But the second turns off after 3 or 4 minutes. Called tech support and found out the company (Adventure RV.net) I bought them from had sent me one upper unit that is for free flow not ducted. And the inside ducted assembly And there is a conflict. The seller said sorry to much time has passed. So I am stuck with it.
So both units look the same, all the connectors are the same. The unit upper unit seems to be the same. So my thought is it is just wired different for the different controls. So hoping I can wire the upper unit to work with the ducted control? Anyone know?
Upper unit 99-00468-04 Should have been 99-00468-06
Inside unit 99-00469-13

John
The thermostat must be getting feedback from the air flow. Check the different locations of components to see if there is any differences. Hopefully Nick or another HVAC guy will post.

John,

We need to know a couple of things to make a proper diagnosis.

1. Bill may be right on, if you are supplying air out of a register on the thermostat, the stat may be satisfied and turn off quickly.

2. If you are running it in the heating mode, and there isn't enough air flow thru the unit due to ductwork restrictions, the high head pressure safety will stop the unit.

3. In cooling mode, low air flow may cause the unit to stop from low pressure, if it is so equipped.

4. Look and see if the blower motor and squirrel cage are the same for the ducted and non-ducted versions, that will tell us if there is a difference.
Good luck,
G
