Any one with a 4106 or 4104 with a walk around queen size bed. Just wondering what you did about the rear wheel wells. Left them like they are. May be build up a little plate form to make it level with the wheel well? Looking for some ideas. Thanks Bob PD4106-273 |

Perhaps I can add to this. When we did our first bus a PD4104 years ago we used a queen size bed also we installed a platform for the bed head board to the rear of the coach. And made walkways over the wheel well humps on both sides of the coach. J.L.Vickers |

I have the same problem in my transit bus. I put the queen bed tranversely so that the head of the bed covers one of the wheel wells. The other wheel well has steps up to it and a floor across it so you can walk up and over it and down the other side. You have to duck a bit as you walk around because the ceiling arcs down in the corners too. Not the cleanest solution, but works ok given the design constraints. I also put fresh water tank under the bed and have lots of storage space there too. The bed is a bit higher than normal, but it allows access to both sides of the bed and for the covers to hang down normally and not be tucked into a wall etc. I am 102 wide though, so this configuration might be a bit tight in a 96"er like a 4106. Hi Bob, We built a platform over the wheel wells on both sides of our bed. Our Queen bed has the head at the rear of the bus and the base is 7" narrower than the plywood that the matteress sets on to allow toe space. The 4' of plywood toward the front of the bus is hinged and lifts up for access to the storage area under the bed. I also put two doors at the foot end of the bed base to access items easily, such as shoes and the vacuum. Thanks, Sam Sperbeck La Crescent,MN |

Sam THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING AS WELL. I THOUGH I HEARD SOMEONE ELSE HAD A SET UP LIKE THAT TOO. BUT WANTED SOME INPUT ON HOW OTHERS HAD DID SOMETHING ABOUT THE WHEEL WELLS .MAINLY I WANT THE BED GOING FRONT TO BACK WITH THE HEAD AT THE REAR. NOT SIDE TO SIDE. I HAVE SEEN SOME AND DON'T LIKE THAT.THANKS FOR EVERY ONES INPUT |

We use a full sized be (54 wide) the long way, which leaves plenty of room to exit beside the bed. The wheel wells are covered and the space hides the safe and long storage , for fishing rods or long guns. Using the pillows at the foot when there is a great view allows waking up to a great view. With 3 sides accessable installing fitted sheets is EZ. The bed is raised to allow immense volume storage below. The matress sits on an old fashoned metal frame with springs. Only about 1/2 thick of space and works better than most box springs. Works for me, FAST FRED |

Two Dogs, Murphy beds were tried a couple years ago as an optional floorplan on one of the stick & staple motorhomes. Didn't last too long. Good idea, poor acceptance. When talking to RV people, one of the most wanted features is "a full-time bed". My 2 cents worth. Dale |

seems like such a waste of space...to only use it for sleeping...maybe twin beds on each side that could have removable backs & be two divans..are they called day beds..? |

Is a Murphy bed what I was told was also a Gaucho bed? Peter. |

murphy bed is a full size bed that folds up to the wall...in the '40's people had them in apartments....the living room became a bedroom at night....you were across the pond then.... |

"seems like such a waste of space...to only use it for sleeping..." In a properly designed camper the HUGE volume under the bed will be avilable for storage. Not an inch of wasted space , cept whats over the empty bed, and most folks use that to see the scenery , frolic , watch TV read or even pass out. FAST FRED |
