I posted this on "The Board" also, but thought I'd stick it here as well....

I have a friend who has a 1978 MC-8 and the engine, an 8v-71, just took a major dump. He owns a small excavating firm and has a fairly fresh 8v-92 out of one of his dump trucks that he would like to put in the bus. What challanges is he facing, or is this a fairly simple swap? Thanks for the advice!! MR

POSTING on a large number of boards is self destructive if your looking for information.

Most folks , who can answer your inquiry will be trolling the top 5 or 6 boards , but many chose different boards.

SO when a question is posted multiple times ,on multiple boards, folks figure somone HAS already answered , and dont bother to respond.

I've only observed this as a project. The big hitch is cooling. MCI, even with the 8v71, had big time problems. Changing to a 92 only makes the problem "near impossible" and will only be solved with "big bucks". The closest one that I know of to a solution involved installing a Kenworth "CAT" radiator, down low and on the left, adjustable louvered air intake, custom shrouding, and a 32" hydraulic fan that will sweep the parking lot. More than 10k just in the cooling system and still not completely satisfied.
