The following is a list of the trans. assy. number's (on metal tag on side of trans. case) with the optional ratio. Taken from Allison repair and rebuild manual SA1442T :6882760, 6882761, 23012007, 23012008, 23012257, 23012487, 23012489, 23012491, 23012762, 23012778*, 23012779, 23014467, 23014468, 23019246, 23048475, 23048476, 29500219, 29500220, 29501907, 29501909, 29505086, 29508467, 29508468, 29508470. This doesn't mean that there only 24 of these trans....Many were produced with each of these different build numbers.

THERE IS NO 1.04 RATIO V730 or V731 !!!!!!!!!!!!
I have parts catalog PC1442EN it lists the assembly numbers listed above as having the PTO option. A bit of research beyond the fact that the bevel assembly is different (because of the PTO) shows that all have the same bevel gear ratio and the gears themselves have the same part numbers. This is simply continuing an error made long ago. THE DIFFERENT BEVEL GEAR ASSEMBLY IS FOR THE PTO. I'd love to be wrong, I want one. If anyone can supply part numbers for the 1.04 gear set I'll quit shouting and apologise.

You can quit shouting as it is no longer available. You need to find about a 10 year old part catalog to find them listed

The trans. assy. number with the asterik is the one I took out of a v-6 transit. If I can figure out an easy way to see and count the teeth on the bevel gears, I will and report back. This trans. does not have a PTO on it.

Just undo the few bolts around where the input shaft goes and the bevel gear will come right out. This is assumeing you have the tranny on the floor and not attached to the engine. I bet you find the .875 ratio. The drive gear will have 24 teeth and the driven gear will have 21 teeth. Bill

Took out bevel gear as per Bill... he is correct; the gears are 24teeth drive and 21 driven. The drive gear is etched:6838952. I should have said that the allison book listed a different part number for that gear set in those models. Oh well. I guess thats how some of us add 2+2 and get 22!

The only other difference in the tranny part numbers is the torque convertor. There is 2 different ones available, that is where the difference other than a PTO take off is. Too bad as there is a few people looking for the elusive 1.04 to 1 ratio. Me being one. Bill
