I'm at a point that I need to solve a problem in getting a windshield washer working. I was thinking about putting in a self-contained tank/pump unit and run a 12v source to it. Anyone les do this? what tank/pump did you use?

The existing washer fluid tank should easily accommodate a lid mounted electric pump.
I found one at NAPA or somewhere similar for our old MC5. It worked very well.
You will have to install an electric switch for it. I used a push button type switch that I would hold on for the time I wanted it to spray. Make sure you put the switch somewhere you can easily reach without using both hands or taking your eyes off the road. Other than that it is very simple

On both my MCI coaches the tank is in a compartment below the drivers side window accessed from the outside of the coach. I don't know where they put them on GMs or other FOREIGN busses. lol
It has to have one somewhere. Tell us what kind of bus you have and someone will tell you where the tank should be.
If the existing tank is gone most wreckers will have something you can incorporate without to much trouble or expense.

Then it will be in the same place as mine and is very easy to convert to electric pump. Just as a suggestion you could use two Pumps, one for each side. More volume per windshield or you could spray only one side to save fluid

Jerry, the washer on my coaches are located under the driver also and they are air operated. Have had no problem with them at all. check and see if you have some air lines laying in there and maybe hooked to a funny looking thing that would screw on top of a gallon jar. That is mine

For taking care of two problems at once, check out the previous thread on masadisposarator. That would also give plenty of volume to remove stubborn deposits. Discourages tailgaters too. Oh, and close front side windows when using it.
