I have a 12 vdc heating unit in the LR of the bus. It is quite simple consisting of a small heater core and 12 vdc fan in an aluminum housing. Hot coolant is supplied from the Aqua-Hot. It is mounted flat on the floor and takes up too much floor space. I'd like to mount it vertically on its side on a nearby surface. Maybe a dumb question, but is there any reason this unit should not be positioned vertically on it's side? Thanks |

Jim No reason it wouldn't work. The coolant is pump fed so it is under pressure. If you did that would the air flow from the fan be in the right direction? The coolant tubes should be hot in on top and cool return on the bottom so hopefully you can postion it accordingly. Bill |

You can put the heater in any position you want but it is best if the lines are to the top or side, not pointing down. If they are down you will trap air in the heater core and loose a lot of efficiency. In and out on most kick plate heaters doesn't matter but if they are to the side the lowest one should be "in" again to allow the air to bleed out Les |

Les is right about not creating an air trap. You could add an air bleed on the upper most fitting to purge the trapped air as needed. Most residential radiators have one, its just an 1/8"tapping with a coin vent. |
