I posted a question on this board in December asking if I could find a bus in my price range. Some of you will remember that I was looking for a solid bus mechanically, and a good conversion prospect that I could finish in a three year span prior to retirement. Well, we attended the bus rally in Arcadia (My hat is off to Jack and his crew for doing a splendid job) and I was looking for a good shell. My wife and I checked out a 4106 (that had been reccommended by one of you) just to get ideas.Well to make a long story short, we fell in love with it. We ended up buying the bus and it was delivered yesterday by the owner. I want to thank all of you that responded to my original post, but one of the main reasons for posting this message is the post I saw a week or so ago with the poster asking about buying someone elses project. The bus we bought is superb!, the workmanship is excellent, and I have to admit the work that was done was better than I would have ever been able to do myself. The previous owner was a perfectionist. It was only for sale because of other family commitments, and I am sure the decision to sell it was not an easy one, he had worked on it for 12 years. I also realize that I bought the bus for much less that he even had invested in it, and that does not count the 4,000 to 5,000 hours that went into the conversion. It has a raised rood, rebuilt driveline, new brakes, tires, proven electrics, plumbing installed and working, and one of the things we liked about it most is that the interior was laid out, but not completed, so we get to finish it the way we want. Sure, it was more than we wanted to spend, but the easy way to rationalize it was that I could spend it now and use it, or spend it a little at a time and do it myself. We are really excited about it, and looking forword to using it when the weather warms up some (Wisconsin). One short comming I see now is that I may have to ask advice from time to time about how things work so I don't have to keep bothering the previous owner. Thanks again Jim |

If the coach didn't come with them , next purchase is, ......."Da BooK"! The 4106 GM Manual and its Suppliment will have everything you need to service the coach. The Drivers Handbook will explain the operation . The Parts Book is like having X-ray vision to see inside the chasis. If it has a slushpump , the book for your tranny will help when it quits, and have maint & operating ideas. The DD book for the 8V71 is interesting IF your going to do your own wrenching , or to keep ypu grom being BS'ed by a technician. Congrats on your new "Sportscar of Coaces" and welcome to a great hobby. FAST FRED |

If that was Bill Foley's 4106, you got a great bus. If not, it still sounds good. Steve G. MC9 Pontiac |
