I just "acquired" a kohler generator
Model #4.5CKM21 RV
No book or instructions with it
What type of oil in the engine?
Does the body ground go to the negative side of the starting battery ?
I know that sounds like a dumb question but this thing only has one battery cable and it goes to the starter solenoid.
It is set up for remote start... any possibility of getting the remote for it?
I want to test this thing before I even think about installing it in the coach.
Any advice?

Yes!
But it will cost you
and you won't like it
BTW
the roof install idea?
not the best plan.

Unlike the response from the "A$$HOLE IN THE TUX"
here some info that can help

Parts manual --> http://kr.manualwebsite.com/pdf/Kohler%204.5%20CKM21-RV%20Generator%20Parts%20List.pdf

Service manual & operators manual - give DENIS a call at ASAP (Advanced Service and Parts) 717 - two seven four - nine three nine six

Try to find the spec# or serial # (to tell old series from newer series)

Thanks for the info Pete.
I know what Jack Fids was referring to, A little inside joke between us.
Not to sound ungrateful for the info because I am, but can you guys lay off the penguin bashing for a while? It is getting very old and uncalled for.
Thanks again
Les

I started this thread so feel entitled to make a general comment on this thread regarding the other post that is asking people to "vote" on the popularity or disapproval of an individual who is accused of hijacking threads. So here goes!
Pete:
you started that thread, I have to assume because of the response that Jack Fids made to me on this thread.
You were kind enough to give me a good place to look for the info that I wanted, and I appreciate it, but you also felt it incumbent for you to take yet another swipe at Fids even though you had no idea what he was referring to when he replied to me.
I think that this is a worse example of thread jumping than most others I have seen, all be it in the envelope of a good reply to my question.
I posted back on this thread that I knew what was being posted by Jack and even gave the explanation of it being an inside joke, not that any explanation was deserved or necessary.
I see some of the newer members on this board starting to voice discomfort with the open animosity being displayed.
I went back over the last couple of weeks of posts and see very little thread hi jacking until you decided to take your run at Fids.
So with all due respect I put it to you that you are the cause of this latest round of discontent on the board and should look to your own behavior before so strongly criticizing someone else.

Latvia 69

Seems to me that every time you get involved in a thread it is to complain about the actions of someone else.
I tried to have a meaningful dialog with you when you started a thread on cyber bullying.
It very quickly went from dialog to open animosity between your self and some unknown offenders who you claim have caused people to leave this board.
I did a fair long search of the archives looking for this cyber bullying that you claim to have happened and found little trace of it.
In fairness I did find some threads that included some abrasive dialog between individuals who had or have some sort of personal disagreement but that was very limited and was contained to very few individuals, most of who I still see posting to this board.
This leaves me wondering if your motivation for posting here is more to do with trouble making and less to do with bus building or getting along with others.
I believe that there is room for everyone on this board that is so generously made available to us by Ian.
Shall we all try to get along?

I realized later, After it was to late to edit, that Latvia 69 was not the one to start the bullying thread... My apologies
Les
