I loved Ian's solution.
As Tim Allan said "oh oh oh more power"
I believe that an attempt to metaphorically bury the hatchet was made by Pete to Jack before the thread was rightly disposed of.
I for one would like to see a new era of harmony and to that end congratulate Pete for his willingness to extend the apology to Jack.
See, sometimes diplomacy works!

I love
Ian
Pete
Dallas
John & Barb
Teresa
Cable
Toni
Chromie
Ace
Fooey
Fast & Gomer
and et al...
no matter what you say the effect remains the same
because it's all just words on a screen
whose affect or change on me
is up to me.
Sorry to inform everyone here
that I control my life, not your words,
my sincere apologies for disappointing anyone.
(I do make an honest attempt to reach the lowest common denominator...they are the ones I interact with frequently in case you hadn't noticed)

-RANT Follows:

Like you, there are quite a number of components in life that I find offensive, repulsive or disgusting,
I can take time & energy away from that which is important to me & focus on them OR
I can continue to progress towards the Terminal at the speed of life
focused on those items that increase my value....
my choice..my life.

Some old, crippled sorrowful Wise guy said it to me best:
"we all have 2 lives
the one we were born into
and the one we choose to make for ourselves
after we out grow the first."
Life affords us all choices
we do what we want to do.

The first 5 people who died in front of me
ALL begged for more time & anguished in their inability to express
all of their regrets & apologies, no one could do anything for them & they couldn't help themselves...
& life was slipping away pretty damned fast.
.... pretty pathetic situations
especially considering none woke up
expecting that would be their last day of life.
The lesson was not lost on me.

When I turn out the lights
I make every attempt to do so with a clean slate.
When a man reaches a certain point in his life he comes to the realization that
the ONLY things left to accomplish IN LIFE
are to enjoy the time he has left & pass along a smile or lend a hand or shoulder.

I own a Coach (* THE SportsCar of Coaches) for the tremendous FREEDOM it affords me,
that freedom comes at a price & the price is that I have
to dump all of the CRAP & inefficiency in my life,
if I don't I am forced to carry it all with me.....
I see no difference between nik-nacks, Doritos or ill will/feelings.
Shit IS shit period & I don't/can't have room for any of it ..
no matter what color, smell or how high.
it's all about time & space
all I have to do is enjoy life between this minute and THE END.
anything else will cost me more than I am willing to pay or can afford, in terms of time & space.

...AND FWIW....

There are some people on this forum
whom I have KNOWN for over 50 years....
FRIENDS not acquaintances
our Fathers owned Busses...
we played Busses in the dirt,
anyone here can feel free to try & interrupt the continuum
of any or all of those relationships but at best
all you are going to do is provide humor for some guys
who were trained to duck live ammo & kill people w/o feeling
with your tax dollars....
and who survived far worse
than we would wish for anyone.
Piss up a tree, move forward or learn tolerance are the only options, based on my experience.

that's all... less in the future!

ooops..!!
one last thorn in my saddle
one last axe to grind
one more POS to wipe off my slate
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Hi Les !
glad you 2 escaped "the buzz"
ya know Bud...
I think you have a better handle on the situation than
anyone else puking in this puddle....
I like your chunks..!!
(keep on shovelin!)

..
.
.
(* THE SportsCar of Coaches)
this is an inside self depreciating joke...
and an homage to the originator.
I once expressed pubic astonishment at an FMCA Nat. Meet
that anyone would be so ostentatious as to showboat around the country
in a 4106...
after all, they were BRAND NEW that year..!
too expensive, too big, too new and definitely too "LOOK at ME".
We were in a 12 yr. old Studebaker schoolie then...
and now
I drive a a 38 yr. old 4106
hoping that I don't have to answer to my own question....
all I can say is..
I got it cheap & it runs like a watch
but I'm still embarrassed to own it.
...and I love it.

Life's the bitch you make it
then you die...
die happy won't you...
or won't you??

Thanks!

WOW I leave for a couple days and all this happens. Plus the season of love has returned! LOVE everywhere and clean boards, wonderful! I suspect Ian pulled out the magic wand and sprinkled happy fairy dust all over the place. (not the Gay kind). GREAT. Jack I am honored to know you even if you did wreck my bay door. but I don't love you, I love Dallas and sometimes Marvin as long as he stays on his meds, Nellie when she's around but mostly Teresa.

Jack, since you saw fit to include my name in your rant, I will respond. I have always enjoyed your humor. I know nothing about you except you have a great command of the language and a not so subtle way of getting your point across. I think perhaps there are times when you take yourself way too seriously. We are all "free sitters" at this theater and as such are only entitled to the show that the owner wants to put on. When two of you involve the board in divisive rants and the theater owner "pulls the plug", please don't be so shallow as to threaten take your toys and go home.
There is room for everyone on here, but we have to accomodate people who may not be on the same wave length as us without letting it get personal.
End of my diatribe.

Okay, here goes.

Jack I like you and read everything you write and almost always enjoy it! I also read everything Pete writes and almost always enjoy it. You both appeal to me in different ways, but I enjoy you both. One day I hope to meet both of you in person and give you both a hug. I interact with you in this forum and Pete both at this forum and the yahoo rts forum. It makes my heart sad to see problems between you two (just like it would between my own kids). I know you didnt start it, but Ian finished it. Personally, I think he did a classy job of finishing it. It's like me having my kids kiss and make up. Grudges hurt a person's soul, and to hang on to something like this and not see the humor in what Ian did leaves only the option to hold a grudge. That's the way I see it anyway.

Read me again...
I thought I said it clearly...
stuff like that is amazing but the most trivial.
All I asked of him was civility
the problems were not with me...
there IS a difference between an attack & a fight.
I was never a willing party nor did I expect what occurred.
Ian diffused the situation with deft aplomb in my book
I love a great twist in a soap opera or a train wreck.

You done good Gal, that mouth ain't just for yellin at kids & eating!
I'm making an attempt here at explaining my perspective honestly & with the least amount of humor I can.
Let me try this....
when I do watch TV & a commercial comes on
I can disregard it
knowing there is nothing contained of interest to me.
I only watch the first 5 minutes of national News
because all of the rest is fluff...NOT important...no value to me...
I am off looking for value elsewhere physically or mentally.
If there is no value, I will not be spoon fed garbage it is that simple.

I've made 2 firm statements here..

1-That I would be posting less after Dal's Shindig.
In the last 14 days before the incident
I made 3-4 posts, that was far too many for some whose ability to tolerate others is less than mine.

2--If you don't like me..... don't read me
complain to Ian, your mate the clouds or kick the dog
all will have greater effect than any you can have on me
with out my permission, this latest issue has only re-enforced & reminded me of this lesson.
I don't care if you don't like me
I do care if you do
but until I KNOW YOU
neither will likely have any lasting effect with the exception of humor.
I do not intend to offend anyone & I'm quick to apologize when my actions were hurtful.
As for grudges, they are crap as well along with ego, vanity & greed...among others... no time, no space to store them.
If Pete wants to make a positive impact on my life
I have given him every tool necessary.
The reverse is true as well.
If he finds more value in residing in the position he was a day ago..I understand.
The universe has a law, for every action there is a reaction, there is an opposite for everything.
Pete expressed his perspectives,
I responded & the world continues to rotate for the foreseeable future.
When you strive to cancel out the things in life that have negative impact a funny thing occurrs...life is easier & better!

Teresa, no matter what happens henceforth, I extracted some value out of the exchange as did/will Pete...
your sad heart is for naught.
We happened to be on the opposite ends of a measure & you were in the middle... nature is that way, the world isn't ever going to attain Kum bye ya, that's what Heaven is for.
Be sad for those who deserve it & earn it...not me.
Oh and NEVER accuse me of missing the humor or irony in anything... magots never fail to detect meat.

RJ ,
Fair question.
Why?
Because it is far more than I need.
When my NEEDS are met I am the happiest.
When my DESIRES are met I only want for more,
that's not healthy or productive.... human yes.
look around you
who do you know who has EVER said
"I have enough, NO more"...?
damned few right?
The fact is I have too MUCH I recognize it
and I don't have enough time now to finish all that I have set in motion.
In all things almost, I can afford to do with less
the trick for me is elimination of the "almost" & to
replace it with "except time".
And then all I have to do is enjoy all of that time.

I cannot see parting with the 4106 tho....
I'm in love...
with a gal far too big for me in every regard
& who grabs more attention than I care to
& has far more expensive taste than I do or can afford,
those are all enough valid cause for the embarrassment!
Not one in a million has my freedom or the ability to handle it
more validity because I am positive
(and Pete will back me 100% here)
there are far more deserving than am I.

Chromie...

NO..!
it doesn't measure time you walnut
it measures SPACE
the space between where I was & where I am
and don't ask if I care if anyone is
impressed with it either.... Bozo
stick to the puchlines,
your set-ups are atrocious.
Isn't that why you're married?
You needed a set-up artist
to make your punchlines
laughable...?

I didnt mean that you were equally to blame. Not at all. Please read me again, "I know you didnt start it..." Pete did start it, but because of mistake because he misinterpreted you. I heard an old saying once, "to err is human, to forgive is divine"

DIE BROKE ! is the new mantra ,

but the Sportscar of Coaches doesn't help, so get an aircraft or boat!!

Jack,

You have a way with words. I don't always agree with you, but most times I am amused by you. This board offers alot to me. One of which is the help I need with my bus. The other is the distraction from daily life that has us running to make a living. I bought my bus to get away from home and the everyday grind we are all caught up in. This board is my get away when I am still at home. Please don't let others influence your interactions on this board. If you write something I don't like, I will move on to the next one. It's my choice.

I hope someday we can meet in person, which is my wish for most of the busnuts. But for now all we can do is learn more about our busses, and each other online.

Have a nice day,

Mike

If

The 4106 is the "Sport Car of Coachs"

Does that make

The RTS the "DeLorean of Buses"

;-)
