Hello:
I’m “The other Brice” new here on BNO. I@n thanks for having me.
Last November I got a 1980 MC-9 that was pulled from service the preceding spring. So far I have been repairing upgrading and trying to understand all of the new to me systems. You can see my adventures on my blog from my profile.
I have been lurking as a guest for a while and have enjoyed the friendly sparing between fids, foo, and a host of others.

Brice
Welcome. There is a great wealth of knowledge on here so don't be afraid to ask anything. The only dumb question is the one you didn't ask.

I say "The other Brice" due to Bryce Gaston (AKA Busted Knuckle) being the first Bryce in the bus world.
And Questions? Where do I start?
All of this is new to me. But if a 747 can't intimidate me mci should just be a bump in the road.

Welcome Brice.. watch out for that Penguin guy, the Foo-Horse, Gomer and 'specially Chromie!

Me? I'm the only really normal one here, no matter what the voices in my head tell George!

By the way, with a 747, if it runs out of fuel, you don't get to walk to a fuel stop and get some in a can. With a bus you do!

Dallas would you believe that I ran out of fuel and my toad the little ol brick Volvo with 886,000 miles on the clock pushed the bus into the filling station I bet you a corvair can't do that :-)

It’s almost like old home week. Volvos, Corvars, Saabs, Volkswagen. Been there done most of it we bus nuts must be collectors at heart (or hoarders)

These days I seem to be putting projects on the back burner and collecting transformation pieces for the bus. Idle time spent reading and posting on bus forums. Attempting to glean whatever I can to further my plans for reconstruction this truly must be a sickness.

And Dallas the only time I have ever been referred to as NORMAL, was when I got my hearing checked when I worked at the airline, but my wife has issues with that. She said “It’s selective hearing” not normal.

George, I would have no problem believing that.

About 11 or 12 years ago we were moving to North Dakota, I was driving a 78 Chevy pickup with a 10' overhead camper, and pulling an 18' flatbed trailer with about 8,000 lbs worth of household stuff and tools.
About 12 miles south of Jackson, Mn., the truck started going slower and slower, the engine was going faster and faster.
Needless to say, I trashed the Turbo 350 transmission. We got in the wife's (girlfriend at the time), car, a 1994 Olds Cutless sporty type car with a V6 and what ever auto was normal for it and went to a motel for the night.
The next morning we called around to a few shops and found one that would do a transmission swap if we fetched the transmission, but no wrecker was available until at least Wednesday, (3 days).
We hooked onto the truck and trailer and pulled the whole unit into town, down a one way street the wrong way, and into the shop.
8 hours later, we had a junkyard transmission installed and were on our way to Fargo.
Total cost was $125 for the T350 and $275 for the R&R.
That little FWD Old's did a great job and never heated up even once on the 12 mile pull.

Teresa WE OWN BUSES, most normal people believe we are quite mad. Truth is they may be right. but I agree with you Dalla's and normal really don't go together well at all. :-)

Teresa, "Normal" is anyone that doesn't think different than I do.

In other words, Do as I say, Not as I do!
