Thanks, Luvrbus, for responding on Clarke Power Servuce in Jackson, MS, where my bus will be tomorrow morning (I hope). For others, my clutch pedal went to the floor at the fuel island and I spent several hours looking at my situation. Thankfully, I carry Tyvek coveralls, which come in handy. Anyway, The Book says that periodically, one might have to "reposition" the clutch release lever. When I went under the bus, my clutch release lever had been spot welded to the shaft by some person in my bus's past. How important is this ability to "reposition" the clutch release lever? Supposedly, this allows an adjustment of the geometry of the clutch as the clutch wears, which makes sense to me. My clutch only has 20k miles on it. I would like to see it returned to original condition but I would assume I would need a clutch release arm and shaft, that have the splines shown in the manual. I assume that my shaft did not have them, so a weld was used. Where would I get a shaft and lever, or do I even need to be concerned about this??? Thanks, as always. |

Not sure if this going to help or not, but with my original set up, Spicer 6 speed and 6V92 as the clutch wore down the clutch lever came into contact with the bell housing. When this situation got bad enough, didn't take long the clutch lever finally broke the housing, result no clutch. Damn expensive to fix, box and bell housing out. Main problem over here was the bell housing, these are in short supply and expensive when you do find one. Final cost at a truck repairer $5,000, painful. Moral to the story keep an eye on the clutch adjustment or as I did change to an auto. Dirk |

Larry, I think that we own the parts that you are talking about. We have a transmission at Ted Campbell's in Williams, CA. that Ted wants to get out of his shop. He's got some good ones and says that he has no need for ours, which is apart. If you think that it's worth getting, I'm willing to try line you up with it. I have a feeling that you are too far away to pay for the shipping, but I think that you might be able to get Ted to ship you the parts that you want. Let me know. Tom, according to The Book, the clutch release shaft is called "release shaft" and the lever is the "throw out lever". I have the mechanical assist on my clutch (springs). The shaft has splines, or is supposed to...maybe mine were worn out and that is why someone spot welded it. I don't think I need or want a whole tranny, but some clutch release parts might be something I am seeking. Thanks. |

Larry, Ted works nights starting somewhere in the afternoon and past midnight, as I recall. Ted owns Coach Maintenance and his email is the same name. Getting him to answer the phone is tough. For what it's worth. Tom Caffrey PD4106-2576 Suncatcher Ketchikan, Alaska |
