Windows in my bus are finally coming out. Going to remove them, split them and polish them, then re-install them!

Cheaper than buying new from prevost!

A friend had one done in his with great results and a decent price for the job and they tell me that even if they cant buff them back to original, they will replace the glass at the same price! What a deal, so tomorrow they come out and will be back in in a couple of days!
Whoo hoo!

Ace, I would think that living in florida you would have thermopane windows. Would make the bus quieter and cooler in the summer, thermopane windows can't be split, they are sealed on the edges with an argon gas inside, thats what I've got now, 100 times better than the old double pane windows.

Cody that is true until you get a leak in the seals. Then they have to be pulled out and re sealed or you can't see through them very well. They start leaking from movement over time.

A true thermopane window won't develop a leak but a doublepane window can and often do require resealing, I've installed hundreds over the years and have been to the anderson factory in minnisota and the kolbe factory in wausaw and watched them built, rv windows are often only double pane windows and not nearly as well built or quiet as a thermopane window. One true thermopane window is the Hehr line, those I've installed many of them over the years and am very impressed with their design, a further explaination of the difference can be found on the websites for kohler, anderson or kolbe windows, a double pane is often confused with thermopane but is a completely different design and rarely gas filled, the seals for double pane windows often fail due to movement and create fogging or moisture to infiltrate between the panels, thermopane are sealed far differently, look at the edge design of a pane if it looks like a smooth wrap of glass going around it's probably a thermopane, if it has a plastic or metal bead or band around then it's a double pane.

Cody, what is the model number of your Hehr windows with argon gas, the reasoning for asking I was at the factory in CA and was told by the manger Hehr does not make a window like you describe for a RV just what I was told lol

Clifford I didn't keep track of the model number but I believe that the windows I got for paul lawry are the same model, I might have it in the paperwork at skanee, I'll check, they are excellent windows, I've had double pane in the past and after replacing several of them on other buses I've gone with the true thermopanes on mine, sorry Jack, I didn't mean to misspeel Minisquito lol, hope your umbrage gets back to being regular again, nothing like an umbrage problem to sour a day in a hurry lol. Cliffors,, Hehr has also got a triple pane in development for RV's suppoedly the next generation of windows, maybe a little overkill tho. For some reason I'm thinking the drivers side were 7601 and the road side were 7602, I've had them in for several years and I'm not sure about the exact model number but for some reason those numbers are sticking in my head and those numbers may be the numbers on pauls windows, I'm just not sure, sometimes my memory fails me, my golden years are slightly rusty at times lol, But I'm thinking they were the 7600 series.

Cody thanks for clearing that up. Now what is the cost of the thermopanes roughly and do they only make certain sizes or can you get special orders like originals on a 5C bus.

I have bad fogging in my double Pane factory windows from smoke damage before I bought it. Could these windows be split and cleaned and resealed?

Matt,I have double panes at the front of my bus that were fogged. took them out and split them apart with no problem. my spacers were made of quarter inch metal square tubing that was very delicate. The cleaning was very easy. I split the windows using a box cutter to break the seal(not a penguin) Hope this helps Latvia69

For a nice window that is very affordable I would check with Bontragers or RV Surplus first, from time to time they get some very high quality windows from various companies, you'll need to know the width and height, most use a clamp ring so the depth isn't as critical as it used to be but thats the first place I would check, I've bought them in new uninstalled condition for as little as 20 bucks each but expect to pay 50 to 100 each, penninsula also can provide a good window for several hundred each, for bragging rights many go with penninsula windows, I can't afford the bragging rights so I have to search out deals.

The windows I am referring to will never be found from an aftermarket source. The driver side window and the door window. Both are exclusive H model prevost. They come out tomorrow so time will tell. Hopefully I can take some pics of before and after!

I am looking to create a skylight with these http://www.innovativeglasscorp.com/default.htm I have three holes in the bathroom bed room area an escape hatch, a pop up spring loaded vent from the factory and a fantastic vent installed by the PO my plans are to remove these and open up three more panels so that I can have a six panel skylight that can auto tint. I am waiting to get a quote from this company for the six 24 X 26 inch sections
