Hey guys I'm sure reading my posts is getting old but I'm gunna keep asking. I just changed the oil and filters and fuel filters on my 6-71. On most diesels I've delt with there is a hand pump to prime the filters after changing them. I can't find the one on this thing. Does it have one, and if not do I need to fill the upper filter and let it run into the lower, will it do that or is there a way to fill the lower as well?

Thanks everyone.

Nick
You need to fill them both screw them back on and you should have no problem. If you do purchace an inexpensive gas primer pump prime from a can of fuel through the top inlet of the secondary filter. You should NOT have to do this.I have never ON MY 671, unless I have torn some of the engine down.

Yup, fill both filters, and make it to the brim, then screw'em on and away you go.

If you have one of the NJT the primer pump is at the fuel tank. Switch for electric pump on mine is on the left hand side of the tank. Turn off the valve on the right side of the tank turn on pump let run till it pumps out the air. Open valve with pump switch still on start engine.

Yea, because the filters are sooss big, you need to fill 'em with fresh stuff, then spin them on.

This will keep the mill from sucking air and possibly damaging it. Watch your oil pressure.
