Steering Tag Axel ?
From My Notes I can't find Which Bus or Motorhome
Manufacturer had recently added a Steering Tag Axle?
If so - Are they good? or... just another Pain in the neck?
Are they always sitting at the shop? or ...
For a moment I taught it was Newell but their website
doesn't Publicize-it.
I now a few years ago I think MCI had something similar
or was-it another bus manufacturer?
Is that something to think for a conversion?
It should give out a tighter turning radius and longer
tread life. No?

MCI had steerable tags on their early 45 footers. This turned out to be a maintenance problem and the factory sent out a field mod to lock the tags in a straight ahead position and disable the steer function. That was a couple of years ago. I haven't heard if there has been a change.

Setra? has a coach with tag steer and the driver I spoke to said it was very nice, but CAUTION was needed when leaving curb near parking meters, poles an fire hydrents they tend to remove sections of body. So watch it when parked close to items at rear of coach.

Setra has had steering tags for a long time. There is a manual lock at the drivers control. We never had any problems and I've owned 16 of them from '89s through to '93s. San Francisco driving was great, we could manouver streets with excellence. Though I did have a couple of drivers severely dent the upper rear corners and that, is expensive.
When moving away from curbs and such, yes they have a swing, but if the driver is careful or locks the tags it's no problem. I'm pro Setra...

Was at the MCI shop in Los Alamitos last week. Sales rep there tells me the new J model has steerable tag.
