I'm leaving for New Orleens And want to take a toad. I borrowed a tow dolly from a friend and don't know if I should leave the car in park or neutral. Thanks in advance

It's front wheel drive. My concern with beeing in park is as the car rocks going over hills and bumps will it put a stress on the trans.

What kind of dolly do you have?

There are several types, two in particular work very differently.

One maintains the wheel alignment to the bus tracking, the other actually will turn the dolly wheels as the bus leads in a turn.

On one dolly you MUST be in neutral, even with a front wheel drive car, the other can remain in park with a front wheel drive car, with the front wheels on the dolly.

The dolly usually has specific directions labeled on the dolly itself.

I think you have to unlock the steering though, check the label on the dolly.

Whoa

Obviously I am up too late.

disregard my above comment about neutral, but heed the specific dolly comment.

If the drive wheels are on the ground, or towing all 4 on the ground, putting the transmission in neutral is a must.

The concern is with the steering wheel lockout, as I said, this will be dolly specific.
