Barbwire! Not knowing that unit,I have a feeling that you may have oil pressure shutting it down or a fuel pump/gas problem. How fresh is the gas? If it has been there for a while get it out and clean the garbage Ethanal out and try to buy 100% gas for it. I got carried away sorry!

What's your manual say? Seems to me I have run into that previously....I'll cogitate on it a bit and whisk the Alzheimesrs to the side...maybe I'll have something...in time. :-)

Well,
If it will run at all WITHOUT the start button depressed, it is NOT low oil pressure!
Low/no oil pressure will cause a stop as soon as the start button is released, and the engine will restart every time the button is pushed.
Is this gas, lp, or diesel?
(Doesn't really matter, you don't have fuel!)

Might be as simple as the carb (if it has a carb) being tuned too lean. Unscrew the bottom screw 1/4 turn and see what happens. Good Luck, TomC

We have one of those Marquis Onans. When the gas gets old (like every 4 months), the carburetor varnishes up. Even if it will stay running, it hunts & won't hold frequency. So I have to remove the carb, strip it down & soak it in carb cleaner. (Spraying with choke cleaner doesn't get it.) I have found that the water thin paint remover works perfectly for this and I reuse it, keeping it in a new 1 gallon steel paint can I bought at Lowes. Lately I have been heavily dosing the gas tank with Seafoam and I have not had to do the strip & sok in about a year.
If you strip & soak, you want to be sure there are no plastic or soft parts left on the carb, this stuff will eat them. You could buy a carb kit & rebuild it but I have not been doing that as the soft parts are fine, just varnish build up in the jets & passages.

Best advice I ever got from the small engine guy who fixes my stuff:

Use the prescribed mix of fuel stabilizer in ALL the gas you put in your small engines: lawn mowers, chain saws, generators, grass trimmers, leaf blowers, atv, snowmobile and any vehicle that is used infrequently.

He makes his money cleaning varnish out of fuel delivery systems. Since he works on my stuff for free, he's motivated for mine to be be trouble free!

I enjoy quick starting on all my gasoline powered equipment since heeding his advice.

happy coaching!
