About 10 months ago there was some discussion here about cabinet door latches, and I have tried about every one of the ones recommended with unsatisfactory results. Moreover, those most highly praised were of poor quality, workmanship, or appearance. After trying some of them plus several magnetic and friction devices, I ran across these, which are perfect for the application I had in mind. I could not more highly praise how well they work. http://www.allegiscorp.com/DisplayPartAction.do?partId=21753&groupId=556&groupElementId=1&displayTemplate=/jsp/displayDetailTemp_15.jsp&cat=Single-Point+Slam+Latches I used the 5# ones for the overhead cabinets and the 10# ones for the lower ones. They hold the doors closed tight - no rattles, no problems. They are inexpensive and they are adjustable. No, I don't have an interest in the product or its distributors, but I was impressed with the service provided and the ease off web ordering. tg |

I used magnets...very strong magnets...had a time finding a glue that they wouldn't pull out of...finally ..used home depo..pl construction adhesive...that is the best glue I've found ...works on everything ...wood,metal,p.v.c. etc. |

And thanks again. I've been trying to find a place that would sell those catches to a Canuck such as myself and that place agreed to. Most places won't even return my calls and the ones that would wanted to sell 50 or 100 pieces as a small order. |

After reading my own post I see that I grabbed the wrong latch from the web. The one I used is the same latch, but has side mounting. You can have a look at it right here, or you can wander about their site and find all kinds of them: http://www.allegiscorp.com/DisplayPartAction.do?partId=21771&groupId=557&groupElementId=1&displayTemplate=/jsp/displayDetailTemp_15.jsp&cat=Single-Point+Slam+Latches regards, tg |
